Nora - 05/27/2021
Nora ate French Toast and half of Dried Plums for breakfast. For lunch she ate two servings of pulled pork, ate whole wheat toast, peas, and two servings of strawberries.
This first picture made me laugh. (Quietly so as not to offend anyone!!) Shortly after arrival Atley and Nora were at the mirror like you see and I heard Nora say; "I'm almost as tall as you." :) Atley never said a word. Good choice Atley!! :)
Today was Science with Lauralea and we did one project (Lauralea has a busy day today) that I would probably label more Art than Science. Going forward we are going to do more of that during Science Time; more elaborate Art Projects some of the time. I'll call this the early years of STEAM (originally it was STEM) education. The "A" has been added for Arts. (You get a bonus point if you know what the acronym stands for.)
Today we were making "Crystal Art." They were instructed to make thin lines/designs with the glue all over their paper and try not to puddle it for the best results. In the second picture we were pouring salt over the papers to stick to the glue. This particular paper was Nora's and you can see she did a large N and O with a small r and a below. In the third picture the kids were using the syringes to apply the color of water they chose for their picture. It was easy to get too much water; the instructions were to carefully dribble the water along the glue lines. We'll see how it looks when it dries.
Next picture; The three oldest girls playing another game today; "Spot It." This was a different one than they were playing yesterday. This relies more on simply spotting two identical objects quickly and doesn't rely on memory like the matching games. Last picture: Nora had joined Svea with the magnetic tray and she was giving Svea some pointers on different experiments to do.
