Nora 5/10/21

Nora ate everything (bananas and cheerios at breakfast.  At lunch she ate 3rds on strawberries and 2nds on olives, all of her avocado, hamburger and pita bread.  I have given the “big” girls the job of helping the littles wash and get ready for meals, which they have really stepped up to the plate and loved so far.  Calahan is Nora’s charge and she took him out to the utility room and helped him wash his hands then helped him get his bib on after he is in his high chair and made sure he was safely buckled in (he does it himself – she just checks on it).

She was having so much fun being my nurse today: taking my temperature, putting Band-Aids on me, giving me medication and giving me shots.  Her favorite was giving me medication after I unthinkingly made a horrible face and gave myself a pep talk saying, “you can do it!”  She had to give me more and more medication after that, carefully watching my face for reaction.  She was cracking up!

She was very excited to see one of the new tapes out this morning and spent about 20 minutes working on an art project while the other kiddos did playdough and other drawing.

One of the other favorites of the day was me introducing them to the “Goldfish Song” with Alexa and doing the motions with them (Miles chuckled through most of the song, which Nora also loved). Another one was teaching them a new game call “Spot It”.  She and Avi played one game of it after I laid Svea down (and before she laid down for her nap).  If you aren’t familiar with the game, each round card has about 8 different pictures on it and you have to find which of the pictures on the two cards are the same. Whoever finds it first gets that card. She is very competitive, but also did such a nice job of remembering to applaud Avi when she found the matching pictures on the card.

I put some new pictures on the electronic photo frame and she and Avi were really focused on watching them and saying “old” or “new” as a picture came on the screen during lunch.  It was great!

Nora fell asleep within 15 minutes of laying down and has been sleeping for almost an hour so far.
