Nora - 6/22/2017

Image
Nora ate a couple bites of whole wheat bagel and ate lots of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a couple bites - maybe, ha - of hamburger & sausage pizza with whole wheat crust, tomato sauce, mushrooms, peppers, pineapple, and ate some banana.  Hudson was so excited at breakfast:  "Nora's saying my name, Nora's saying my name, Nora's saying my name....!!!" Hudson was also excited when "Nora's Song" came on the iPod this morning.  (That's not the name of it, but that's what we've always called it!)  He was chanting; "Hey Gary!  This is Nora's Song, this is Nora's Song...!!"  And Nora arrived while her song was still playing!!  :) I was watching Nora at the legos table and she was a busy girl!  She was pitching legos to the left, to the right, behind her, and wherever!  (I couldn't detect a pattern to her filing system!!  Haha!!)  I started laughing and she eventually realized I was watching her and she ...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and lots of grapes for breakfast.  She gets more excited about grapes than any other food I've witnessed!  She starts quivering and I'm afraid she's going to hyperventilate!!  Haha!  For lunch she had a bite or two of roast pork, some toasted rye bread, no vegetables (carrots, potatoes, or brussel sprouts), and ate fruit salad. Nora was the first one here and when Hudson arrived I said, "Here's Bubba!"  Nora said, "Bubba."  And it was so plain and clear!!  Hudson's dad Colin heard her say it too.  Later, I was telling Lauralea about it and Lauralea asked Nora, "Did you say Bubba?"  Nora answered,"Bubba."  Yesterday when I was changing her diaper she was messing with her belly button and I think she was trying t say, "belly" or "button" or both. Here are some pictures from this morning's activities. In the first two pictures she's showing me how she's learned to ...

Nora ate toasted whole wheat english muffin and a bite or two of dried plums.  For lunch she had a few bites of chicken with stir fry vegetables.  She wouldn't even look at the brown rice - turned her head sideways before it was even close to her face.  Ha!  However, bring on those oranges!!  She ate LOTS of oranges. This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  That is not a safe play to play Nora!  Ha!  You're going up a one-way street the wrong way!!  I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that 80% of the kids (around Nora's age) we've had in the last 20 years will play this exact way.  I always have said the reason is because there is frequently a lot of activity right there!  The slides are like a magnet!  And it doesn't deter them even if someone is coming down! I realize there are lots of pictures today, but they were all too cute to leave one out!!  (You should see some of the pictures that never make i...

Nora ate cheerios and lots of banana pieces for breakfast.  For lunch we had taco salad and I serve it separately rather than all mixed together: she ate bites of ground beef, ate pita bread, ate some olives and tomatoes, no lettuce, and lots of cantaloupe. I was saying something about Nora and called her "Nora Hansen."  Hudson went right over to her and kept pointing and saying, "You Nora Hansen, you Nora Hansen, you Nora Hansen........"  Haha!  He cracks me up!  She just looked at him with an amused grin and I think she said, "What's your point?" Ha!! Here's a picture of all 5 kids playing on the mattress.  Nora goes to the mattress first thing every morning, kind of flops forward on it, and lays there grinning and sucking her thumb.  Yes I know, I've showed you a picture of it once or twice!!  Ha! Like I've said, if you see it many times or I mention it many times it's probably one of their routines.  Toddlers love their routines...

Nora ate bites of whole wheat english muffin and ate lots of oranges for breakfast.  Reid loves oranges too and he was devouring oranges as fast as I could load them on his plate and he asked, "You got another can of these?!?"  LOL!!  (No, but I went and fetched more out of the sack!!)  For lunch she ate ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, a bite or two of peas, and applesauce.  I fed her the beef mixed in with the applesauce.  I put some on her lips, she licked it and then accepted several good sized bites.  Elbow noodles is also a favorite of Reid's and he asked me the same thing about those at Lunch!?  "You got another can of these?!?"  Haha! There will  not  be any Blogs tomorrow, June 16th.  Little Treasures is closing for the afternoon so Lauralea and I can attend a Memorial service for the precious daughter of some dear friends of ours.  Thank you so much to all my Daycare Families for making it possible for u...

Nora ate a couple bites of french toast and lots of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she wasn't interested in the Paleo Stew with ground burger, potatoes, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli - she ate crackers, and tropical fruit. Hmm...this picture looks familiar right!?!  Nora at her most favorite spot right now.  She goes to this same spot so many times a day and does the same thing!  It's like her "default setting!"  Ha!  And another favorite in the 2nd picture; Something on her head and watching self in the mirror.  Looks like she just finished washing her hair! Hey, I was able to get all 4 kids that are here today in one picture!  :)  Nora was squealing and excited to have everyone close by.  Nora was thumping Atley and Sophie and so I was saying, "gentle touches" and showing her what a gentle touch looks and feels like.  Atley just seemed amused by it all.  Ha!  Sometimes the kids aren't very h...

I don't think Nora touched the toasted rye bread, but she ate lots of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate some baked chicken, ate whole grain tortilla bites, tasted the roasted cabbage, and ate baked apples with cinnamon. In this first picture Nora was pushing a button that makes a motor sound on the tractor.  (Like it's starting the motor.)  It also makes a light come on and you can see the light on the nose of the tractor. She must have pushed that button for at least 5 minutes.  In the 2nd picture she's working hard to get that Lady Bug jacket on!  :) In this picture Nora crawled over to where Atley was playing and stood up to observe; "Hey, what are you doing over here?"  :)  A few minutes later Atley was tugging on Nora's slippers trying to get them off.  Nora didn't care.  She just sat there grinning as she continued to suck her thumb.  Ha! These two pictures are so stinking cute!!  Avilene was trying to give ...

Nora ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of ground turkey, bites of hamburger bun, bites of tomato, no lettuce, no avocado, and ate lots of cherries. Nora had crawled over to the mattress, flopped face first on it, started squealing and chuckling, then rolled over and of course started sucking her thumb.  I laughed at her and she got the cutest silliest little grin on her face and I had to grab the camera and get this first picture.  :)  Little cutie!  I like how she's grinning around her thumb! We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and Nora was playing with the "cow hat" in this next picture.  (This toy set kind of has an animal theme - barnyard type animals.)  There are also lots of animal masks in this set and Nora was kind of trying to treat this cow hat like a mask!  I think maybe it's a cow mask that she'a playing with in the last picture. Before I took this last picture Nora had be...

Nora ate a few bites of breakfast: oatmeal and baked apples with cinnamon.  For lunch she wouldn't try the hamburger stew with carrots, green beans, potatoes, and brussel sprouts.  She ate a couple bites of dinner roll, and ate lots of apricots. I took this first picture yesterday afternoon when we came inside from the thunder, lightning, and rain.  She was hanging out on the mattress for a long time reading books.  If you look close you'll see she is learning a new reading skill - upside down!  This is so typical of her age!  I always say they get twice the mileage out of a book!  :)  Turn it "right side up" and you have a new book!! Here are some pictures from this morning.  Reid was putting his blanket on "Nor Nor" (as he calls her) as she's crawling and pestering her as much as she'd put up with!!  The next one is a picture of my two youngest kids!  So cute!!  Hard to believe these two are only 4 months apart - and ac...

Nora wasn't interested in the toasted rye bread, but ate lots of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she wouldn't try the pulled pork sandwich, ate peas, and cantaloupe. The kids were at the window waiting for Andy, Avi's Dad to come around the corner.  Nora was already slapping the window at a frantic pace and Hudson kept telling her; "Not coming, not coming, not coming!!"  Haha!! Here are some pictures from inside-play this morning.  Nora was reading books and making sounds like she was actually "reading" them.  Then Reid arrived and gave Nora his customary greeting.  :)  In the third picture I thought it was cute because she had half an apple stuck to her butt - with velcro. The fruit and vegetables can be "cut" in half. We played outside for almost an hour this morning.  It's hard being the smallest kid at Daycare and especially when you insist on playing in the middle of the expressway, better known as the sidewalk. Atley...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and lots of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a couple bites of hamburger with spaghetti sauce, ate whole wheat spaghetti noodles, no squash, and ate fruit salad. Lauralea covered for me this morning while I went to a Doctor appointment.  (Just dealing with a foot issue, nothing serious.)  So these notes and pictures are from activities prior to 10:30. I keep forgetting to remind Daddy Ryan to wave to us at the window.  We're all lined up to wave and Daddy goes flying by.  No one really notices except Hudson of course!!  (And Sophie wasn't here yet.)  Bubba said, "He left!!"  As his eyes followed the car going down the street.  Haha! So then Sophie arrived and again we're at the window and I'm behind Nora as she's standing and looking out.  After Sophie's Mom drove off one of the neighbor's strolled past walking his dog.  Oh man, Nora almost lost her mind!  Haha!  Her whole body...

Nora ate bites of whole wheat bagel and LOTS of grapes for breakfast.  She loves grapes!  It's the only food I serve that I've seen her "double-fisting" it!  Haha!  Using both hands and quivering with excitement!  Speaking of excitement - you should have heard her when Reid arrived about 11:00.  It was a combination of squeals and chirps all done in staccato!!  A certain rhythm and sound that is hard to describe!  Haha!!  For lunch she tasted the shrimp, turned her cheek to the brown rice, ate a bite or two of stir fry vegetables, and ate mixed berries.  This blend of berries has pomegranate seeds and she loved them.  Sophie said, "I don't like the nuts in my berries!!"  Ha! Nora can basically pull herself up anywhere she chooses.  She's been standing up just using the wall to give her extra balance and security.  I took this first picture when she pulled herself up using the balance bar at the mirror.  That wa...

Nora ate bran cereal and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch we had chicken salad - I serve the ingredients separately rather than mix it all together.  She ate chicken, pita bread, olives, maybe some peppers, tomatoes, lettuce with spinach, or cucumbers, and she ate lots of pears.  I took this picture at Lunch Time so you can see that I'm using a plate with her today - to see if it reduces the spreading of food all over her tray.  (The food that she doesn't want!  Ha!)  And it actually worked much better.  It wasn't as easy for her to start moving the food side-to-side!  (I'm waving one hand above my head and that's what she's focused on!) In this next picture Nora was playing in the legos drawer right in front of her for the longest time.  Then she found some minuscule thing that was attached to her hand or thumb.  I think it was a hair! "Hey Avi! I could use some help here!!"  :) Next picture:  I think Nora was the fir...

Nora ate malt-o-meal cereal and dried plums for breakfast and drank a bottle around 10:30.  She may have had a couple bites of lunch, but not too much.  :)  It was baked beef "kabobs," brown rice, zucchini and peppers, and pineapple.  At the breakfast table Reid said, "Hey Gary!  You know what weird?"  What's weird Reid?  "I like Nora better than all the kids."  :)  That's sweet Reid.  So I'm posting an abundance of pictures today to prove his point!!  Haha! He was crawling along behind her wanting to give her a love, but she kept on moving.  So he just kept crawling until she stopped and then made his move!!  Haha!  He really does love her and it's adorable.  Picture number 4 is the one that was cracking me up!!  Nora was laughing so hard!!!!!  She was holding the stuffed animal and Reid was knocking it out of her hand.  He said, "I'm making her laugh!!"  Yup you are!  I have no idea h...
