Nora - 7/31/2017

Nora ate lots of peaches and no whole grain chex cereal for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of hamburger with bun, bites of tomato and lettuce, ate avocado, and oranges. This first note is actually leftover from Friday, but I want to post it anyhow because it was pretty cute. Nora was kind of slapping Sophie and I told her to use "gentle touches."  Sophie said, "Well, she's hitting me and I like it."  Ha!  Hmmm....that is not helpful Sophie!!  :)  And of course I told Sophie that she could help teach Nora to use gentle touches too. We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange and everyone was busy all morning checking out all the new stuff!!  I saw Nora playing with the little piano (in the picture) and I gave her a quick lesson.  LOL! The 1st picture shows how well she responded to my teaching and the 2nd picture is right after I walked away.  Hahaha!!  What a goof!  She was like; "Just leave me alone - I got this!!"  Ok. ...

Nora ate a few dried cranberries and ate oatmeal for breakfast.  For lunch she had a bite or two of tilapia, ate whole wheat elbow noodles, green beans, and applesauce. Nora was making me laugh in this first picture.  She was experimenting with everything she could make this chair do!  Turn it from side-to-side, but especially get that thing to rocking!!  Except then it would come back and frequently bonk her in the forehead!  Silly Nora! Hey, Look Mom!  Gary remembered to put some cream on my arm!!  Haha!!  She was touching the cream and then stuck her finger in her mouth to give it the taste test!!  Ha!  I did NOT see her do that a 2nd time!!  :) Reid was so ready to go outside and as soon as we were ready it started to rain.  So we watched it rain from the window inside!  And it poured hard for several minutes - enough that we listened to it hitting the metal roof.  We read books, sang some songs and look...

Nora had bites of toasted whole wheat bagel and ate lots of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate several bites of hamburger/sausage pizza with whole wheat pizza crust, olives, peppers, mushrooms, tomato sauce, and ate crushed pineapple. These 4 children in the picture below (Atley, Hudson, Avi, and Nora) were all playing at the legos table at the same time.  I always think it's sweet when this age group can play side-by-side and not be grabbing toys from the other children's hands!!  They are in the early stages of learning some social skills - which I think is one of the major benefits of a Childcare setting. Here's another "group" picture.  These 3 were having fun watching food items pop out of the toaster. In the picture there is a pancake and an egg in midair.  (The white egg with yellow yolk is directly in front of Bubba's forehead.)  Shortly after I took this picture the song about "Nora" came on and Hudson yelled, "Nora's S...

Nora had a few bites of whole wheat toast and ate lots of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of pork roast, most of whole grain tortillas, maybe some vegetables (carrots, potatoes, and brussel sprouts), and ate fruit salad. Lauralea had a little extra time this morning and she sweetly volunteered to put ponytails in the girl's hair.  Nora is a wiggle worm and turns her head back-n-forth - even with a book or something to look at.  But it still came out very cute!!  Thank you Lauralea!! I took this picture of Reid getting some hugs from his Nora buddy!  These two crack me up because of the size differential!  Reid is so BIG!  And Nora, well she's not.  :)  I love how much Nora is understanding language.  Lauralea's sister Julie asked Nora, "Did you get ponytails?"  Nora does a big affirmative head nod.  So cute. One of the first things I did outside was dump the bin full of balls.  The kids like me to d...

Nora ate whole wheat english muffin and no dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of chicken stir fry, brown rice, stir fry vegetables, and ate lots of oranges. I love this picture of Nora "feeding" Atley.  Atley was cooperating so cutely and knew exactly what Nora wanted to do.  These two are very compatible and play side-by-side frequently and even together like in the picture below.  What do I mean by "compatible?"  Thanks for asking!  They play at the same "speed" and are similar in styles of play.  For example, Nora tried feeding Avilene this morning too and Avi very sweetly took a bite, but she could barely slow down long enough to get the bite and she was off and running again!  (This is all subject to change when Nora starts walking!!  Ha!) I was on the other side of the room doing something and I said to myself, "Who is making all that racket over there!?!"  And this is what I saw; Nora was vigorously stirring ...

Nora had bites of breakfast: cheerios and banana.  For lunch she essentially ate most of everything: hamburger from taco salad; olives, tomatoes, and lettuce from taco salad; ate pita bread, and a large serving of cantaloupe. Nora was peeking in the igloo at Avi then after Avi left it was apparently Nora's turn to go inside.  So Atley started peeking in at her.  In the 2nd picture I caught Nora is the middle of her infamous head turn (which basically means "I'm much cooler than you are!"  Haha!!)  when Atley would peek at her. When Sophie arrives every morning she greets Nora with the sweetest touches and words.  She loves her Baby Nora.  (Look how adoringly she's looking at Nora!)  Then that's pretty much it for the rest of the morning - however, Sophie still has her ear tuned into Nora and responds immediately if Nora needs something!  (Which basically helps reinforce the "I scream, you fix it!" behavior.  Haha!)  In the l...

Nora ate whole wheat english muffin and lots of oranges for breakfast.  For lunch she ate everything: whole wheat elbow noodles, ground beef, peas, and applesauce.  I was glad you told me about her getting up early because it helped me understand her behavior a couple of times this morning!!  Ha! Actually she had a great morning and did just fine considering that!  Before breakfast she was standing on the step at the window like she's been doing all week.  Except this morning she decides she's scared and starts screaming.  So I helped her down - and she screamed about that too!  And then she goes and gets back up there and yells again.  Ok Turkey.  You're on your own now!  I basically ignored her then and when I said it was time for breakfast you should have seen how fast she got off of there!!  Haha!  I knew you were trying to yank my chain Nora!!  :)  She was getting tired by Lunch, but not too tired to squeal and l...

Nora had a bite of french toast and ate lots of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate lots of the vegetables from the Paleo Stew with burger, carrots, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, and brussel sprouts, she ate crackers, and tropical fruit. Reid is here today and Nora was so tickled to see him.  Totally adorable.  In the first picture Reid is demonstrating his mastery of the fidget spinner and Nora is very impressed!  Haha!  Reid said, "It's hard to do on a windy day."  Well thank goodness it's not windy and in case you hadn't noticed we are inside the house.  :)  In the 2nd picture Nora was about to grab the spinner as it is twirling.  (Makes it look completely different!) I showed Avilene this next picture of Reid flying through the air and I asked her, "Who's that?"  She looked at the picture and said, "Nora."  That made me laugh.  Nora is definitely in the picture and I guess Avi saw her as the focal p...

Nora ate waffle and grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate baked chicken, half of whole grain tortillas, half of roasted cabbage, and ate baked cinnamon apples.  She drank several ounces of milk at both meals.  I'm very impressed and happy with how well she's doing with her cup.  Awesome!! We were at the window waving when Daddy drove by and Nora was saying, "Daddy Daddy Daddy." I was pretty impressed until she spotted a flock of birds, got excited and again was saying, "Daddy Daddy Daddy!"  Ok, so now everything is "Daddy!"  Haha!!  She cracks me up!  I've decided she's entertained by silly things!  I floss my teeth - she squeals, giggles, and hollers!  I blow my nose - same result!  :) Nora gets up on the window step all the time now and is even getting down by herself too!  Ha!  (Although some times she'll still stand there and holler and I'll say, "You can get down by yourself." And she does - I think she just ne...

Hi Everyone! Just want to let you all know that my laptop is in the shop and they are backed up with repairs for several days.  So there will be no Blogs this week and I will let you all know as soon as I get it back!   Gary

Nora ate several bites of oatmeal and lots of baked cinnamon apple bites for breakfast.  She also drank 6 oz of milk.  I'm impressed and happy with how she's doing with her cup!  Well done Nora.  (I measured how much she drank this morning so I'd know!)  For lunch she ate bites of hamburger stew (ground beef with green beans, carrots, potatoes, and brussel sprouts), ate whole wheat dinner roll, and maybe a bite or taste of apricots. Nora was looking around at the ceiling this morning and then I noticed Hudson doing the same thing and he asked, "What Nora see!?!"  Haha!  He decided it was a "bee."  :)  I remembered to put some cream on Nora's arm and Hudson noticed that as well.  (These kids don't miss much!)  He was quizzing me incessantly from every angle!  "What you put on Nora?  What it for?  Why?  Cream, cream, you put on cream!!??"  "Yes, Hudson, like I said for the 14th time I put on cream."  Ha...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and wouldn't touch the dried plums for breakfast.  Silly girl.  Like I mentioned a few days ago, she has eaten them before and she liked them then; back in her early days! Ha!  For lunch she ate half of pulled pork sandwich, some peas, and ate cantaloupe. Reid is here today and I love how excited Nora got when she saw him come in.  So cute.  Later, I realized I didn't have any pictures of Nora yet and I asked Reid if I could take a picture of him loving on Nora.  He said, "No, not today."  LOL!  (So maybe tomorrow.) We played outside for a long time this morning.  (Just in case it's too hot to go out this afternoon.) Here's a picture of Nora standing at one of the climbers while the neighbor's dog is barking vigorously at something.  (I see Reid's legs and feet are in the picture so at least there is one picture of them together!!) Nora stopped to pull on some flowers in this little patch of clover. ...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and mangoes for breakfast.  I'd load up her spoon with mangoes and she did great feeding herself.  For lunch she ate bite or two of hamburger with marinara sauce, ate whole wheat spaghetti noodles, tasted the squash, and ate fruit salad.  I was flossing my teeth at lunch time and she was squealing with laughter and delight!  Haha!!  Glad I could amuse you Nora! We rarely look at anything on the computer as a group, but there is one web site that I like for the kids and that is explore.org.  It features many web cams set up around the country and other parts of the world as well.  My favorite at this time of year is the big brown bears feeding on salmon at a place called Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Alaska.  We looked at them for a few minutes and the kids loved it; especially Hudson and Avilene.  (Ok, I admit, I probably loved it the most!  Haha!)  There were several times this morning you could...

Nora ate whole wheat bagel and grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she had a bite or two of shrimp.  However, she ate everything else: brown rice, stir fry vegetables, and two servings of mixed berries. I have a story from this morning when we were outside, but it's slightly gross for you more sensitive ones!  :)  It's one of those "you had to be there" stories, but I'll try to set it up!  We were on the patio and there was a moth on the concrete floor.  So I grabbed the camera because the kids (including Nora) were starting to gather around it and I wanted a photo of them examining the bug.  I was ready to snap the picture and just then Atley marched through the middle of the circle and squished the moth.  She didn't have clue it was there, but stomped directly on it and flattened it.  Oh man, for some reason that hit my funny bone!  Ok, so much for our bug lesson of the morning!  :)  The kids just wandered off while I scooped ...

Nora had bites of bran cereal and ate raisins for breakfast.  For lunch we had chicken salad (lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, olives) with the chicken and olives on the side.  She ate her chicken, pita bread, bites of salad mixture, ate olives, and two servings of pears.  Nap time is right after Lunch and some days I might forget and get Atley ready for nap first, before Nora.  (My general approach is to start with the youngest.)  Nora does NOT like that!  As Atley and I were heading for the hallway I started singing, "Good night Atley, good night Atley."  Oh man!  Nora started screaming!  :)  Oops! Sorry Nora!!  Not intentional! This first picture cracks me up.  As soon as she was done waving at Daddy leaving she raced to the mattress to do this.  Then when she saw me looking at her she closed her eyes.  She was doing that several times this morning - kind of a cute little shy thing.  So cute.  She played on...
