Nora - 4/28/2017

Nora wasn't interested in a bottle this morning.  For lunch she ate a few bites of elbow noodles, spit the tilapia out and tossed it across the highchair tray, ate a few bites of green beans, and ate several bites of applesauce.  I fed her the applesauce and I slipped several bites of tilapia into it!  Ha!  I feel so successful!  :) This first note is from yesterday afternoon and is more about Reid than about Nora, but it's too cute to pass up!  :)  Reid was bonking himself in the head and Kenzie yelled at him; "REID!! That is NOT good!!  That can cause brain damage!!"  Reid simply responded; "Just make Nora laugh!"  And in fact he was being quite successful.  :) Also from yesterday afternoon; I was changing Nora's poopy diaper and it was amazingly large.  I usually don't gasp, but this one was surprising!  Haha!  I said something like; "WHOA!  That's huge Nora!"  I didn't think about the older kids hear...

Nora ate whole wheat bagel and peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she had a nibble or two of pizza: whole wheat crust, meat mix (hamburger, sausage, eggs), olives, mushrooms, peppers, and pineapple. She ate enough to fuel a hummingbird! (Maybe for a few short minutes!)  So I'll feed her more when she wakes up!  :) Here's a picture of Nora sitting in the Library reading with Bubba!  :)  I'm thinking about the picture I posted yesterday of Nora squeezed into a tight spot.  That is common among infants her age.  Many like the feel of tightness on both sides!  (But of course not ALL infants.)  Lauralea is going to use that picture in one of the Infant/Toddler classes she teaches.  So I guess Nora will be slightly famous for a moment at least!  :) It was so cute how Nora was watching Lauralea brush her hair!  She was actually quite mesmerized!! So I got the camera and told Lauralea; "Keep brushing, keep brushing!"  Haha! ...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and lots of grapes for breakfast.  I was glad she had a large breakfast because she would not drink a bottle or eat at lunch - I think she was too tired at that point!  So I'll feed her when she's awake. This first picture is from yesterday afternoon just a few minutes after both of these girls had awoke from their naps.  Avi was jumping, getting both feet off the mattress, then extending her legs straight out and bouncing on her bottom.  Nora was laughing and squealing with delight!  It was so cute.  Then Avi was kind of rolling over on Nora and laying on her.  These two really enjoy each other!! This pictures cracks me up!  I think I "rescued" Nora from this exact spot 3 times yesterday!  So where did she go first thing this morning!?!  Yup, right back to the same spot!!  Two times yesterday she kind of had her leg twisted behind her and slid down into there.  And then she'd yell for help! ...

Nora ate whole wheat english muffin and a bite of dried plums.  She seemed to like the plum, but one bite was apparently the limit!  For lunch she ate bites of chicken, no brown rice, bites of vegetable stir fry, and ate oranges. This first note is from yesterday afternoon - we were outside and Nora decided to try to stand up on the patio hanging on to one of the wagons!  Geez!  Her choice of a stabilizer is on wheels and there's a nice concrete floor underneath.  Hmm.... :)  I stayed VERY close, but she gave it up and moved on to something else. Nora was here for 30 minutes before anyone else arrived.  We snuggled for a long time and then she spotted some people walking down the sidewalk and got all excited saying; "Baby baby baby."  Haha! These first two pictures were taken before anyone else arrived.  Loving those plastic veggies!!  Ha! She was back to the mattress to play - notice the carrot made the journey too!  :)  N...

Nora ate cheerios and banana for breakfast.  At breakfast she had sips from her cup while I held it.  It was the first time I can say with certainty that she was actually getting some milk from the cup!  Ha!  She quit biting and chewing on it and actually sucked on it.  And when I offered her the cup the next time she sucked immediately.  For lunch she had bites of hamburger from taco salad, bites of pita bread, bites of tomato, olives, no avocado, and bites of cantaloupe. Nora crawled over to where we were reading books and started using her awesome pincher (small motor) skills to pull on my leg hairs.  Dang!!  Ouch!!  I guess that's what I get for not wearing long pants today.  Haha! There is no elementary and middle school today so Kenzie and Riley are here all day.  (Reid is not here.)  Kenzie was watching me change Nora's poopy diaper and her 7 year old commentary was quite hilarious and entertaining!  Kenzie appe...

Nora ate kix cereal (instead of brown rice which I knew she wouldn't let me feed her) and raisins.  She would NOT drink any bottle this morning.  The 2nd time I tried she saw me coming with it and took off crawling in the opposite direction screaming!!  Ok, I can understand a subtle hint!  Ha!  She was super tired so she went to sleep about 10:30 again.  And I'll feed her lunch when she wakes up. It's fun to watch Riley interact with Nora in the afternoons.  Nora absolutely adores Riley!!  Riley has a very non-intrusive way of dealing with the little ones and they all love her.  Yesterday Riley was running toward Nora and gently tickling her tummy on the way by.  Nora was cracking up and they did that over and over.  Kenzie and Sophie both tried to imitate what Riley was doing, but I watched Nora closely and her eyes stayed totally focused on Riley. I was reading books to Nora and Avilene when Momma Emily left.  As soon as ...

Nora ate whole wheat english muffin and oranges for breakfast.  She drank 5 oz at 10:15.  She went to sleep at 10:40 so the schedule today is about the same as yesterday.  I'll feed her lunch when she wakes up. Nora was the first one here and we were snuggling for several minutes.  I kept saying, "Hey Nora, say Gary."  She said, "Baby."  Hey Nora, say Gary.  "Baby."  Hey Nora, say Gary.  "Baby."  Hahaha!  Ok, we'll work on this more at a later date.  It was pretty cute how she was answering what I said every time! How about these first 2 pictures?!?  Aww...so cute.  This was shortly after she arrived and she was squishing her face against the soft end of the couch.  I jumped up and grabbed the camera across the room and she did it 2 or 3 more times.  Thank you Nora!!  :) It's not too often I can get a picture of all of them playing so closely together - without trying to stage a picture! ...

Nora ate french toast and a bite of strawberry for breakfast.  She drank 4 oz at 10:00 and then she was down for her nap by 10:40.  So I'll feed her lunch when she is awake.  Or, to be more accurate, I'll offer her some food.  Haha!  Little Miss Independent!  At least she has awesome small motor skills (in this case, pinching her fingers together) and is totally capable of feeding herself.  We've had kids that wanted to only feed themselves and they just kind of shoveled it in with their fist!  :) I think I've mentioned this before, but I have to change Hudson's diapers on the floor because being on the changing table makes him super uncomfortable!  Which is not much fun trying to hold off the others and get the job done.  Nora is learning that it's just a spectator sport and active participation is NOT encouraged or allowed.  Nora was giggling and trying to scoot in close.  :) Here are some pictures from this morning's ...

Nora had a few bites of flat bread and ate lots of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she had a taste of everything; hamburger, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.  She pretty much spit it all back out and so I just gave her some fruit salad that I also had on the tray.  (Emily, please try to remind me to talk to you tonight so I can tell you how I deal with this - if a child will not eat what is prepared.)  She also drank 4 oz at 10:00. Nora was acting pretty tired first thing this morning so I put her in her crib for a nap.  Hudson heard the "sleep sound" through the monitor when he arrived and I told him Nora was sleeping.  He started singing "night night Nora, night night Nora."  Minutes later he had one of the dolls wrapped in a blanket and was singing, "night night baby, night night baby."  Nora never did go to sleep, but she played great the rest of the morning.  (She had a big poop about 10:15.) Here's a picture that il...

Nora ate kix cereal and mixed fruit for breakfast.  Drank formula at 10:00.  For lunch she had bites or a taste of everything: turkey burger, whole wheat bun, tomato, avocado, and cherries. Nora giggled and squealed several times this morning and I think she was glad to be back hanging out with her friends.  Sometimes she totally surprises me how LOUD she can squeal.  And I'm talking about her happy squeal!!  She might be small, but her lungs work just fine and her volume is mighty!! We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and the kids stayed busy checking out all the new stuff.  Hudson had this shape sorter bucket full of shapes and Nora scrambled over to have a look at it.  He quickly grabbed a lid and covered it.  Ha!  It was basically more of the same in the 2nd picture.  He had some little people in the airplane and she wanted to have a look.  She isn't aggressive about grabbing someone's toys (not yet - ha). ...

Nora ate a good breakfast again!  Whole grain flat bread and peaches.  For lunch she had a few bites of pulled pork sandwich, a sip of tomato soup, and a few bites of cantaloupe.  When I offered her a 2nd sip of tomato soup she vigorously whipped her head back-n-forth faster than I'd ever seen her do it!  Not real subtle!!  Ha! Well here's the highlight of the morning for me at Little Treasures!!  :)  I was working at the changing table and Reid yelled, "LOOK LOOK!!"  I turned around and there she was standing.  That's the first time here!  It was pretty cute how excited Reid got and I was glad he alerted me!  She let herself back down with great control.  Nice job Nora! Reid was feeling some love for Nora.  He was watching her and then had to get down and give her a love.  Also this morning he saw her crawling into the igloo and apparently he hadn't noticed it before.  He said, "Hey look!  Baby Nor...

Nora ate lots of breakfast: whole wheat toast and mangoes.  For lunch she had bites of everything: hamburger with spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, squash, and fruit salad. During outside time yesterday Lauralea noticed that every time the neighbor's dog barked Nora would look or point in the general direction and say her notorious one word!  Ha!!  "Baby baby."  So now I'm wondering if it's "Bertie Bertie!?"  Haha!! I apologize in advance for taking this picture of you Nora!!  :)  She went into the igloo and immediately started straining and groaning.  She got some poop out later, but not at this time!  Can't a girl have some privacy here!?!  After she pooped around 10:30 she was tired and took a morning nap. Not too much to say about this picture except it made me laugh when Nora dove between the other two kids.  Sure enough, there's room for everyone here!! There are some kids - and Nora is one of them - who can find...

Nora ate whole wheat bagel and grapes for breakfast.  (She loved the grapes.)  For lunch she ate shrimp, flat bread, stir fry vegetables, and spit the mixed berry bite right back out.  :) Nora had a very typical 'Nora morning' again.  :)  She was in a good mood and laughing at the antics of the other kids.  I'm thinking of all kinds of titles for this first picture.  Haha!  The right foot was bare and it looked like she was scratching her forehead? her thinking pose? a favorite yoga position? At first I thought she was going to start chewing on her toes.  :) The masks in this toy set have been a favorite of Nora's.  She's been watching the other kids put them on and she was packing one around most of yesterday and again this morning.  Several times she tried to get it on her head and once she had one hanging around her neck.  I've tried putting it on her face like a mask and that's NOT what she wants!!  Ha! She w...

Nora ate bites of bran cereal and raisins for breakfast.  Drank 5 ounces at 9:45.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken, bites of flat bread, bites of olives, avocado, ate squash, and ate pears. Sophie was "squealing" on Bubba about something this morning - actually several times, ha - and then she tattled on Nora!  "Nora pushed me!"  Haha!  That cracked me up!  Well I certainly hope you're ok Honey!! These first 2 pictures are what Nora played with first this morning.  I'm always fascinated by what the kids play with first.  Frequently it's the same toys or books as the week before or the day before.  But sometimes it's something entirely different.  It's like they notice something for the first time.  Today Nora was sticking with her favorites.  :)  She likes the legos animals and the food toys with the velcro.  In the 2nd picture I put a "lemon" and an "apple" together.  She worked hard to get them apart and...

Nora ate bites of malt-o-meal cereal and loved the dried plums for breakfast.  She drank 5 oz at 10:15. She had a few bites of lunch: beef steak, brown rice, vegetables (zucchini, mushrooms, red peppers), and pineapple. This first picture is from yesterday afternoon when Riley was playing with Nora.  Riley is the sweetest "little Mommy" and she adores Nora.  Hudson looked at this picture this morning and asked, "Nora crying?"  He was concerned.  :) This picture from this morning looks kind of familiar right!?!  If someone is reading this Blog for the first time today, look at yesterday's Blog and see the explanation with the picture where Hudson is "fanning" Nora with the pillow.  This was so cute because Avi actually started doing this from several feet back and then just slowly worked her way toward Nora while continuing to fan the pillow! For the last 2 or 3 three days I've been finding Board books that the pages are being split in ha...
