Nora - 10/31/2018

Nora declined breakfast.  By 10:00 I think she was kind of regretting the "no food" decision at breakfast.  Several times she asked if we were gonna have snack.  :)  If they choose to not eat I don't worry too much because we're gonna eat in 2 - 3 hours again anyhow so it's not like they're gonna starve.  And I basically believe in "natural consequences" anyhow.  ("That was your choice.")  For lunch she ate "whole 30 chili" with meat, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers and lots of spices.  She also ate tropical fruit and half of whole wheat dinner roll. It took Nora a little longer than usual this morning to settle into Daycare Life!  :)  She was a bit "out of sorts" and yelled when anyone got within a few feet of her.  In the first picture she'd found a quiet spot to lay, but Atley and Linnea had other plans.  Linnea had given her a stuffed animal, but Nora didn't want it.  By the 2nd picture she was playin...

Nora ate bites of toasted whole wheat english muffin and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of pork chop, ate whole wheat toast, bite of sweet potatoes, bite of beets, and ate applesauce.  (Even if she wasn't feeling great she still had a good appetite.) As you know Nora arrived kind of teary and out of sorts due to not feeling well; most likely the runny nose bug and whatever else associated with it that Linnea passed to everyone the week you were in Vermont.  I was hoping it would bypass Nora, but not to be!!  So the best antidote for Nora's miserable state is to surround her with infants.  :)  First picture: And look at her smile.  I think I need to use the metric system to measure her tolerance for frustration when she's not feeling well.  Actually there are smaller units such as "Angstrom."  I have no idea what I'm talking about, but look it up!  (Ha!  Just humoring myself!  Ask Laur...

Nora ate bites of chex cereal and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, whole wheat hamburger bun, ate avocado, tomatoes, and two servings of oranges. We were at the breakfast table and Svea came crawling around the changing table and Nora let out a LOUD squeal of delight!!  It was piercing and quite startling!  haha!  (Avi and Svea had arrived moments before that and Nora's so in love with baby Svea.)  Sometimes Nora's squeal of delight and scream of anger are so close in tone I have to look at her face to see her expression!  It guess it wasn't just nerve wracking for me; Avi looked at me with big eyes and said, "She's laughing too loud."  Ha! First picture: Nora was laying on the floor with her baby singing, "Goodnight baby, goodnight baby, goodnight baby, time (to) nappy now."  Atley brought a blanket and baby over and joined Nora.  Atley, of course, wasn't content to just lay there - she had to start entertainin...

Nora ate bites of her oatmeal and bites of dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate tilapia, whole wheat elbow noodles, green beans, and two servings of applesauce. This first picture is from yesterday afternoon when Avi was pulling Nora and Svea in the wagon.  It was a bit nerve-wracking because Svea insisted upon standing up and I was afraid she'd topple out. At least her feet were on the bottom of the wagon so she wasn't standing tall, but she was pretty wobbly. I mentioned it yesterday, but Nora has been reading SO much this week and I love it.  I like how she and Avi both have their legs crossed-over in the next picture.  I can think of four different times Nora read books this morning.  One of the times she and Atley were in competition for most volume on "Baa Baa Black Sheep."  Let's just say Atley can perform a few decibels above everyone else.  Wow, she can be loud!!  How about we sing together!?!  Haha! Here are...

Nora chose to not eat breakfast.  (That's not unusual when she arrives after breakfast has started.  And I know she probably ate at home so it doesn't cause me concern. I think I repeat this in the Blog every time she comes after breakfast has started! Ha!)  For lunch she ate bites of sausage and hamburger pizza with whole wheat pizza crust, tomato sauce, olives, pineapple, and peppers.  She also ate a large serving of pineapple on the side. Reid was here after school yesterday and he was regaling us with some stories at the snack table.  He really does have a funny sense of humor and comes up with some dandies!!  He looked at the little kids and said, "Hey Guys!!  The only thing you do in Kindergarten is sit in your seat and listen to your teacher!"  Haha!  Thank you Reid.  You make it sound like lots of fun.  :) Also from yesterday - this first picture left over from the afternoon.  It cracked me up because Nora is past t...

Rather than sending out a separate email I'm gonna include a reminder to begin the Blog today.   Please write these dates down, put them in your calendar, or whatever you use. Closure dates for the remainder of 2018: November 19 - 23.   Little Treasures is closed for Thanksgiving week.  (Louisiana here we come!!!) December 24 - 25. Also, I'm closed for New Years Day January 1st.  That's a Tuesday.  I'm scheduled to be open on Monday December 31st unless most families have other plans. Nora ate most of whole wheat toast and ate grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of pork roast, bites of whole wheat tortilla, no carrots & potatoes, and ate fruit salad. This first picture cracks me up!  Emily, remember the picture you sent from Vermont with Daddy holding Nora and petting the goat - or at least close to the goat - I think it was pretty similar to the coloring of this goat mask!  When I got the picture you sent it looked ver...

Nora ate most of toasted whole wheat english muffin and most of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of chicken, large serving of brown rice, bites of stir fry vegetables, and ate oranges.  At lunch Avi just randomly started talking about going to the fair.  "We saw turkeys at the fair!"  Then she turned to Nora and asked, "Did you go to the fair?"  Nora looked at her and before she could answer Avilene said, "Say yes Nora."  Hahaha!! This first picture is from yesterday afternoon when Nora and Atley were playing in the house on the patio.  Atley was making ice cream; "Making ice cream," she said.  And Nora was waiting for her to fill an order.  :)  Kids have played the "food to go" game for a long long time on the patio.  It gets passed for one group to the next.  Sometimes they ride up on their bikes and order through the window.  :) This morning: More play with Atley!  :)  Nora has the bum...

Nora ate cheerios and bites of banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, half of whole wheat pita bread, no avocado, half of olives, ate tomato, and ate cantaloupe. Nora was so excited to be back and it was SO much fun to have her back!  I was hugging on her five or six times and she was ok with that!!  Thank you Nora.  Atley was very thrilled to have someone laughing at her shenanigans and she was making Nora laugh within the first minute of arrival.  Here's a picture of those two waving at Atley's Momma.  When they were waiting for Megan to drive around the corner Atley was "bonking" her forehead on the window and Nora was cracking up!!  Haha!  Welcome back Nora. Then Atley was showing Nora her "bruised" elbow.  (I could see nothing that even resembled a bruise!)  Atley said, "I got an owie on here!!"  Nora said, "OW!"  Haha!  Which suited Atley perfectly; that's what she wanted to hear!! Here are a c...

Nora ate bites of oatmeal and ate baked cinnamon apples for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of hamburger stew with meat, carrots, green beans, and hashbowns.  She had a bite of whole wheat dinner roll and ate a large serving of apricots.  Here's a picture of breakfast meal time.  The conversation this morning was so hilarious.  First Avi, then Nora; "Hi Atley!"  "Hi Atley!" "Hi." "Hi." At least 4 or 5 times just like they'd not seen each other recently!  (They'd been playing for the last 45 minutes!)  Then Atley kept saying, "I like pineapple."  Uhhh..it's baked apple.  "I like baked apple."....2 minutes later...."I like pineapple."  Uhhh..it's baked apple.  "I like baked apple.".....2minutes later...."I like pineapple."  You get the idea!  :) Next picture: Avi was wanting to sit in the chair so I told her she needed to ask Nora if she could sit there too.  Nora said, ...

Nora ate french toast and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate pulled pork, most of whole wheat toast, ate peas, and watermelon.  I got a new router installed last night so the Blogs are up and going today!! Here are a couple of pictures I took yesterday!  Nora was doing all kinds of wild antics on the mattress and making me laugh!  Which of course encouraged her to do more!!  Look close at her head in the first picture!  It made my neck sore just to see that!  haha!  Second picture: Pretty impressive bridge going on there!  Haha!  (That's what we called in it wrestling - trying to keep the shoulders off the mat and not get pinned!!) This morning Nora started saying, "gonna buy you, gonna buy you, gonna buy you!!"  Very excited!! What the heck are you talking about!?!  Then I realized the song playing from the iPod was "Daddy gonna buy you a mocking bird....."  Haha!  I frequently sing that song to th...

Nora ate bite of toasted whole wheat english muffin and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate shrimp, large serving of brown rice, most of stir fry vegetables, and ate raspberries. A moth was on the outside of the window and it stayed there most of the morning.  (I just went and looked - 1:20 - and it's still there!)  In the picture it's at the tip of Nora's index finger.  Linnea was the first one here today and she was the first one to spot it.  The kids sure enjoy the bugs, birds, dogs, cats, squirrels, deer, and other creatures roaming around the neighborhood! Nora had a great morning and I'm proud of how well she's been listening to me!  As we've mentioned  many times Nora just needs to have some quiet alone time to meditate (or whatever it is she's doing - ha!) and she finds that spot.  Lately she's been choosing a new spot almost daily.  As you can see in the next picture she found a good spot today!  Under...

Nora ate bran cereal and bites of raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, no whole wheat pita bread, ate olives, tomatoes, cucumber, bite of peppers, no avocado, and ate pears.  (This lunch was originally intended to be a chicken salad, but I serve the items separately and they seem more inclined to try them that way.) Atley was pestering Nora and Nora squawked at her!  Atley said, "Say no thanks Nora!"  Haha!  What a goof!  Yes that's what I teach her to say, but be a good friend and don't torment her!!  Here is Atley and Nora in the first two pictures today having fun and laughing!  Nora was hiding under the blanket on the couch and Atley was tossing stuffed animals on her.  (Some days that would make Nora squawk, but not today!)  In the 2nd picture Atley was saying, "Look at me Nor Nor!  Look at me!! Next picture Nora was delighted when Svea arrived!  "I just love and adore these babies!!"  Nora was t...

Nora ate most of cream of wheat cereal and most of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of baked beef kabobs with meat, peppers, pineapple, and zucchini.  She ate bites of brown rice and a large serving of pineapple on the side.  Whenever the kids are eating out of a bowl (cereal at breakfast) I tell them to wrap one hand around the bowl to hold it close.  At breakfast Atley kept saying, "I'm wrapping my hand; are you wrapping your hand Nor Nor!?  I'm wrapping my hand; are you wrapping your hand Nor Nor!?"  Ok Atley, thank you, I think she's gets the idea!!  :) This first picture was taken shortly after Nora arrived.  She was sitting on my lap and we were being silly doing some selfies!!  Second picture - Avi and Atley were "hiding" from "monsters" in the igloo and Nora was happy to take the monster role!  She was giggling and peeking at them and they were squealing and pretending to be scared. Next picture: Nora w...

`Nora ate waffle and most of fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a couple bites of shepherd's pie with burger, green beans, carrots, and sweet potatoes.  She ate whole wheat tortillas and ate cherries. This note is from Tuesday when Reid was here after school.  We were talking and I told him how much he had loved Nora when she was little.  I said, "I remember when you loved Baby Nora SO much!"  He said, "Well I remember when I loved applesauce and elbow noodles SO much!"  Haha!  The boy has always had his priorities.  :) This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  I don't know what to call Atley's shirt material, but all these sun spots you see in the picture were reflecting off of Atley's shirt!  She was standing on the step at the window and I showed her what happened when she moved.  These spots moved across the floor and wall.  She soon figured out she could control them and she was wiggling back-n-forth....
