Nora Hansen's Journal

Nora ate waffle and fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of Shepard's Pie with meat, carrots, potatoes, and green beans.  She ate half of whole wheat tortillas, and she ate her cherries. First picture:  Linnea was having fun running and working hard to keep up with Atley and Nora.  They were racing from the big window to the gate and back again; over and over.  I took this picture when they slowed down long enough to play with the school buses.  Notice that 2 of the 3 (Nora and Atley) are busy on their phones.  Yup, that looks about right!  :)  Second picture: Same book as yesterday, but different song!  "This old man he played six....nick nack paddywhack give the dog a bone...."  Nice job remembering all of that Nora. Nora ate French toast and three servings of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of "whole 30" chili with meat, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and tomato sauce.  She ate most of whole wheat dinner roll, and ate tropical fruit.  At breakfast Nora asked for more strawberries and I was feeding Svea at the time.  I said, "Ok, but you'll have to wait a couple of minutes before I can cut up more strawberries."  Avi added; "So you don't choke!!"  She LOVES making additions and corrections to my statements!!   :)  I'm making that judgment by how often it happens! Nora ate most of whole wheat English muffin and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate pork chop meat, ate whole wheat toast, bite of beets, no sweet potatoes, and ate applesauce. I just thought this first picture was cute because these two were sitting side-by-side with the same toys, doing the same thing, and each had a stuffed animal too.  (I guess I can call Elmo an animal! Ha!)  Speaking of these two they were sitting about this close together and reading/singing really loud like they always do!  Nora yells; "I can't hear! I can't hear!"  Atley stops singing; Nora starts singing!  Atley starts singing.  Nora yells; "I can't hear!  I can't hear!"  Repeat and repeat!  :) Next picture: Avi, Nora, and Atley were all in the preschool room doing activities.  Earlier, Nora was reading a "Care Bear" book.  And Avi scooted up beside her and started looking at it too.  Things kind of started to go south ...

Nora ate bites of Chex cereal and two servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of ground beef, ate whole wheat hamburger bun, ate tomatoes, ate avocado, and three servings of oranges. I changed Nora's poop this morning and it was pretty large!  I said, "That's a huge poopy for such a little kid!"  She said, "Thanks Gary!"  You're welcome Nora!  :)  Well, I'll continue with this toilet theme!!  We've been doing group sessions in the bathroom;  it always seems to help the next ones see the potty routine!  Avi is the "veteran" of the group, Atley is the "rookie," and I'll call Nora the potential "prospect."  :) We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend so everything is new once again!!  First picture: Atley and Nora were looking at books and singing.  All Christmas songs!  For example; In picture Atley has a "Care Bears" book and she's singing, "The twelve ...

Nora ate oatmeal and half of dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate tilapia, whole wheat elbow noodles, two servings of green beans, and two servings of applesauce.  At the breakfast table Atley was coughing and Nora (very sweetly) asked; "Are you ok Atley?"  No answer.  Again; "Are you ok Atley?"  No answer.  Avi said, "She's ok."  (ha!)  Nora; "Are you ok Atley?"  Again Avi answered, but this time said, "She's not ok."  Nora said, "Gary!!  Atley not talk to me!!"  Me: "Atley, please answer Nora. We answer when someone talks to us."  (I guess I was caught up in listening and being entertained by the entire exchange!!)  Haha! Nora was playing with a toy and one of the babies came by and reached for it.  Nora was yelling; "NO! Its' mine! It's mine!"  With great authority Avi said, "Well actually, it's Gary's!"  Haha!!  Avi has heard that a few times.  Except I...

Nora had a bite of whole wheat bagel (toasted and buttered) and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of hamburger & sausage pizza, ate all of her whole wheat pizza crust (cut into little pieces), with peppers, pineapples, olives, and tomato sauce.  She also ate a large serving of pineapple on the side. Avi, Atley and Nora were all in the preschool area reading books.  They (Nora first) found a book that reminded them of halloween and Nora said, "I go trick-or-treating like a monkey!"  Haha!  I loved how she worded that.  So Atley said, "I go trick-or-treating like a rabbit!"  Avi said, "I go trick-or-treating like a skunk!" Next picture: Nora seeking some solitude from the crowd!  :)  And giving everyone the skunk-eye if they're having thoughts of invading her space!  Ha!  We were listening to kids songs on the iPod and in the middle of one song Avi said, "Nora, your song is coming next!"  Sure enough, ...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate pork chops (they were very soft - and delicious - from being marinated), ate whole wheat tortillas, bites of carrots, potatoes, and sweet potatoes, and she ate fruit salad.  At lunch time: The kids were eating and making comments about the pictures on the digital frame.  There is a picture of Avi standing on one foot.  When I saw that I said, "Look at Avi on one foot."  Nora immediately looked under the table at Avi's feet.  Haha! At Story Time I usually read the "Special Books" and I do it in "order" so it's probably 3 - 4 weeks (sometimes much more) before I'll read the same book again.  But they soon learn all the books and it's amazing how many they know.  I'll read a line and let them fill in the "blank" and they always amaze me.  Up to this point Nora has primarily listened and sucked on her thumb, but she's starting to particip...

Nora ate whole wheat English muffin and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, bites of brown rice, bites of stir fry vegetables, and a large serving of oranges.  As the kids were waiting for breakfast I was whistling loud and they were guessing the tunes.  Nora and Atley were nailing them in just a few seconds every time.  (Avi was asking me to stop!  Haha!)  It reminded me of a game show on TV called "Name that Tune" from MANY years ago!  haha! Most of the pictures today are from yesterday afternoon.  We have several different size snow suits and Lauralea put this hat and mittens on Nora.  It was so cute.  Nora started talking about her "monkey suit!"  Haha!  Ok, I can see that!  Third picture - you can see the sand tables: They were pestering me to play in the "sand."  They kept saying, "Why not?!?"  So I kept saying, "Well if I have to explain that to you, there's a good chance you won't und...

Nora ate Cheerios and banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, bites of whole wheat pita bread, bites of tomato, ate olives, half of avocado, and two servings of strawberries. Atley and Linnea are not here today and the Nelson girls didn't arrive until 9:45.  Nora had a captive audience (me - ha) and was a talking machine up to that point!!  Haha!  Here are some examples of our morning conversation.  "I went to the parade and got candies.  Two candies!!" "I wanna wear undies like Avi."  "Oh," I said, "big girl panties?"  She said, "No; undies!"  Haha! "What's that?" she asked.  (pointing at my shirt.)  I said, "Montana Grizzlies"  She said, "I like Montana."  So I asked, "What's Montana?"  Nora said, "Montana Missoula."  Haha! Around 9:00 Nora said, "I wanna go potty."  Ok, I checked and she's was dry, so I took her in there and she sat on the...

Nora ate two servings of whole wheat English muffin and two servings of oranges for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and applesauce.  Plus an extra big serving of more noodles smothered with applesauce. These first two pictures are left over from yesterday afternoon.  I'd just put ponytails in Atley and Nora's hair.  As I've previously mentioned Nora always wants Atley to recognize her hair when I'm finished.  This time Atley also said, "Look at my hair Nor Nor!"  So Nora examined it and said, "Can I touch it?"  Atley, "Yes."  Then Atley asked, "Can I touch your hair?"  Nora, "Yes."  So we reconstructed the scene so I could take photos and they cooperated so well!!  Isn't this cute!?!  :)  We always call Nora's pony a "whale spout" when it's fixed like this.  :) Here's a picture from Nora's morning.  Atley and Nora were on the toy shelves be...

Nora ate french toast and two servings of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of "hearty paleo stew" with meat, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, green beans, and carrots.  She ate crackers and tropical fruit too. This first note is from yesterday: Nora was watching me feed Svea some food.  She always asks what I'm feeding Svea and I was teasing Nora.  "What's that Gary?"  a spoon.  "No (pointing), what's that?" a bowl.  She thought for a moment and said, "What's Svea eating?"  Wow!  Great question Nora and I'm impressed.  :) Atley and Nora were at the window looking outside and talking.  Atley pointed across the street and said, "That your house Nor Nor!!"  Nora said, "NO! I live with my Daddy, Momma, and Nora."  Haha! Nora kind of had a hard start to her morning; not that unusual and here's an example within minutes of arrival.  She yelled "NOOO!!"  W...

Nora ate bites of waffle and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of chicken, bite or two of whole wheat tortilla, ate corn, and three servings of baked cinnamon apple. This first picture is one that's left over from yesterday afternoon, but it was so cute watching Avi be the little teacher!!  Notice Avi's right hand - index finger in the air for extra emphasis!!  Avi was saying, "Nora, I'll be right here to help you if you need help!"  (Obviously by "right here" she means I'll be in your bubble space!!  Ha!)  No response from Nora.  "OK NORA!!"  Nora says, "ok."  Ha!! Nora is still making announcements about having a brother; "gonna have a little brother" and about her upcoming birthday bash!!  "I'm having a birthday and Gary gonna come!!"  Avilene said, "Don't forget Lauralea Nora."  No response from Nora.  "NORA!" Don't forget Lauralea!...

Nora ate most of kix cereal and two servings of mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground turkey, bite of whole wheat hamburger bun, two servings of avocados, three servings of tomato, and ate cherries. We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend so it was a super busy morning like it always is on these Mondays!  Or as Atley called it; "New toy Monday!!"  I like that phrase too!!  First two pictures: Nora found the tutus and was trying them on and then looking at herself in the mirror.  You can't really see it very well, but in the first picture she has a purse on her arm and styling with two different shoes too!! It's a nice look for you Nora!  I especially like the low-riding tutus!!  (Good view in second picture!)  Similar to other low-riding styles I see around town!!  Haha!! Nora ate bites of oatmeal and two servings of baked cinnamon apples for breakfast.  For lunch she ate  two servings of hamburger stew with green beans, tomatoes, and carrots.  She had bites of whole wheat dinner roll, and she ate her apricots.  Atley began lecturing Nora at breakfast: "Say please Nor Nor, say please!"  Haha!  I've been working with all of them, but of course Atley is probably the biggest violator so we'll see if it's a case of the "pot calling the kettle black" or if Atley has made some kind of miraculous conversion!  (I know where I'm placing my bets!!  Ha!) I was admiring Nora's BIG eyes this morning and I said, "Nora you have really big pretty eyes."  She looked at my eyes and said, "You have.....uhhh.....your eyes."  Haha!  Excellent observation!  :) This was one of those mornings where Nora came in and immediately started laughing at everything Atley was doing!!  (And I LOVE those mornings - Nora ...
