Nora - 1/31/2018

Image
Nora ate french toast and strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate paleo stew with turkey burger, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower.  She also ate saltine crackers and tropical fruit. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon, but here's a backside view of Nora's ponytails, as Kenzie surveys her work!  :)   She had sprayed Nora's head with water and was able to get the ponytails to stand straight up! I took these next two pictures before breakfast when Atley and Nora were having so much fun being silly and playing.  Atley LOVES to make Nora laugh.  For example, this morning she was pretending to fall off the little step in front of the window and she'd look up to see if Nora thought it was funny. Nora laughed so Atley kept doing it until Nora quit laughing!  In the two pictures below Atley was reading and Nora found that hilarious and the next picture shows the side pocket on the chair which they were filling...

Nora ate most of waffle and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate baked chicken legs, half of whole grain tortilla, ate corn, and a large serving of applesauce. Yesterday afternoon I told Riley that Nora and Linnea wore the same size diaper.  Her mouth dropped open and she said, "That is just weird!"  About 3 minutes later she repeated; "That is just weird!"  Then she went and looked at their diaper because she knows the size is printed on them.  :) I smelled poop and I said, "Ok, I smell poop!  Who's poopy!?"  Nora, Avi, and Atley - all three of them grabbed themselves at the same time and started saying, "I am."  "I am."  "I am."  Ha!  Nora was the only poopy one!  One out of three telling the "truth."  That's about par for this age group!! (That's a joke!) In the first picture Nora continues to play with the keys and bells putting them in the cup!  Isn't that interesting!? ...

Nora ate kix cereal and two servings of mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bites of turkey burger, bites of hamburger bun, ate lettuce salad with tomatoes, and ate cherries. We had a humorous incident this morning and I'll try to set it up for you.  A volunteer with the Sheriff's Department came by to pick up a check for a fundraiser they do every year.  The volunteer was a character about my age with long white hair and white beard.  (Like Santa Claus without the suit!)  He had stepped just inside the front door and of course the kids were lined up at the big white gate to see who it was.  When he saw the kids he started talking loudly (and perfectly I might add) like "Donald Duck."  Oh man, Avi took off running, Atley started laughing, and Nora immediately backed off and sucked her thumb more vigorously!  Hudson's not here, but his reaction would probably have been negative!  :) When I brought Baby Linnea out from her morning...

Nora ate oatmeal and three servings of baked cinnamon apples for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of hamburger stew with meat, carrots, green beans, and tomatoes.  She ate a large serving of apricots and no dinner roll. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon.  Kenzie and Riley wanted to do art with the kids and they had lots of fun.  First they did stamps, coloring, and dot painting on this paper.  Then after I took the picture they literally covered it with stickers!  This project went on and on and on.  Ha!  So much so that the little ones were abandoning ship and that rarely happens!  (Notice that Nora is positioned next to her buddy Riley of course!) Baby Linnea and Nora were the only ones here until breakfast time!  This first picture shows the Baby with LOTS of doll blankets that Nora was piling around her.  You can also see a yellow toy on the right side which is a front-end loader if the ...

Nora ate two servings of french toast (bring on the syrup!!) and bites of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate pulled pork, whole wheat bread, peas, and two servings of watermelon.  I almost cancelled the Blogs for today because it kept coming up "service unavailable."  So these Blogs are running late, but the site is finally working fine!  So this Blog may be a bit shorter! Nora's "play buddy" Atley is not here today, but Hudson jumped right in and played Nora's favorite game with her and was pushing the swivel/rocker chair around and around.  Here's a picture of Nora laughing wildly because Hudson kept falling down and of course that's always hysterically funny!  Then he stood up and said, "Gary, my muscle hurts."  (while holding his arm)  Of course I was very sympathetic and hilariously replied, "You have a muscle!?!"  :) Here are some more pictures from this morning's activities;  this first one is of Nora w...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and three servings of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of ground beef with marinara sauce on whole wheat spaghetti noodles, ate squash, and two servings of fruit salad.  She just amazes me how much she can eat!!! So this first picture is from yesterday afternoon!  Now that Nora can get her bib off the hook she thinks she has to get everyone's bib.  I thought this was so cute because she (the youngest) got Hudson's (the oldest) bib.  This was the first time she'd done this.  So today at breakfast she got all four bibs off the hooks.  But we'll not do that routine because some kids like to get their own.  Hmmm...imagine if someone got Nora's bib for her!  :) Here's a picture of Nora and Atley having some big fun this morning in the chair.  First Atley was pushing Nora around and around; then when I took this picture Atley was piling the doll blankets on Nora and Nora was immediately...

Nora ate a few bites of whole wheat bagel and two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate shrimp, large serving of brown rice, ate stir fry vegetables, and raspberries.  Lauralea is working from home on Tuesdays and today she came out at lunch time and made this observation, "Wow, those are large serving sizes!"  Haha! The serving size recommended by the Food Program are tiny - my opinion!  :)  Regardless of who is measuring it, Nora eats a lot of food!  She needs to take in lots of energy so she can squeal and yell at her peers!!  Just kidding!! We did some "golf ball art" at Art Time and here is a picture of Nora taking her turn.  The tray is almost as big as she is!  There is card-weight paper in there covered with about 10 different colors and 4 golf balls rolling around.  :) This next picture cracks me up!  Hudson said, "Can we watch for Kenzie and Riley?"  Well I guess so, but you'll have to stand there...

Nora ate bran cereal and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, no whole wheat pita bread, ate olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, and pears.   Nora was packing an armload of toys to the mattress and I said, "Nora, bring the food toys to this side."  (It keeps the mattress open for jumping and being rowdy.  They all follow that house rule really well, but occasionally have to be reminded of course.)  Anyhow, when I said that, she stopped, looked at me, and then closed her eyes and stood there.  Oh man, that made me laugh.  I don't know if that made me disappear or if she was no longer present!  So funny.  So I simply repeated what I'd said and she followed the rules that time.  Thank you Nora.  You cute little stinker!   Speaking of a little stinker, I will continue with some more stinker behavior!!  Daddy got to see her grab an armload of doll blankets (like the picture below) and then yell when she...

Nora ate malt-o-meal cereal and bites of dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch - from the baked "beef kabobs" she ate bites of meat, ate zucchini, ate peppers, and no mushrooms.  She ate brown rice and pineapple. Nora was watching Hudson and Avilene at the mirror with their "hoodies" over their head.  Actually, Avi's is not really a hoodie, but an over-sized collar on her sweater.  (I'm sure there is a name for such things, but I have no clue.)  Anyhow, she had it pulled over her head like a hoodie.  Nora was getting more mad by the second tugging on her collar trying to pull up her hoodie!!  Haha!  Dang, that was funny.  It looked like she was going to lift herself off the floor with her collar. Nora was covering baby Linnea with a blanket and being very careful.  Atley went over and did the same thing, except with a different approach!  She barely bent over and just let it flutter down and land however!  Good enough! ...

Nora ate waffle and two servings of fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of shepherd's pie which includes hamburger, green beans, and potatoes.  She ate a couple pieces of whole grain tortillas and ate a large serving of cherries. After breakfast I guess Hudson was taking notes for his journal.  (Ha!)  He asked. "Hey Gary, who brought Nora Hansen?"  I said, "Her Mother. "  Hudson said, "Noooo!  Her Mommy !"  Haha!  He always makes me laugh! The activity you see in this first picture is becoming a daily ritual!  Hudson is the one who basically started it and he was doing it again today and Nora loves to participate in bringing pillows, stuffed animals, and blankets and surrounding the Baby with them.  The Baby loves all the kids and the attention which is awesome.  And they are all pretty careful around her so I haven't had to put the protective fence around her for a long time.  In the second picture Nora...

Nora ate two servings of french toast (amazing what a little syrup does - ha) and ate strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate most of "whole 30" (which basically means no beans) chili with hamburger, peppers, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and seasoning.  She also ate tropical fruit and no dinner roll. First picture: Nora and Atley have played this same game every day last week and so far this week. They laugh and laugh.  Nora's role in the game is just to stand there and laugh.  As long as she'll laugh Atley will keep performing!  A couple of goofs.  :)  Let me remind you how this game goes: Atley puts five or six little people on the plate and then dumps them off onto the couch.  Yup, that right there is comedy.  :) Here's the story behind the picture of Nora putting socks on the changing table.  (I just happened to have the camera in my hand.)  Hudson was sitting on the couch, took off his socks, and pitched...

Nora ate most of toasted whole wheat english muffin and two big servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate pork chop (because I mixed it with applesauce), most of whole wheat bread, taste of roasted vegetables (potatoes, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes), and ate applesauce. I took this first picture yesterday morning before I left, but no Blogs yesterday so I'm posting it today!  Just too cute of a picture to NOT post!!  :)  Nora knows if I'm here then Lauralea will be leaving for work!  And that calls for some serious "show-off" mode!  Lauralea said Nora would NOT show-off on the mattress yesterday afternoon and do some of her infamous butt-bombs - even when Lauralea asked her to!  (After I left.)  She was making up for it this morning! Atley joined Nora reading books on the couch.  Atley was reading/singing two of the songs and they were totally recognizable.  "Bear went over the Mountain" and "Six Little Ducks." When At...

Nora ate oatmeal and some dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bite of tilapia, ate whole wheat elbow noodles, green beans, and applesauce. I love this picture I took yesterday afternoon.  Nora was just laying beside Linnea looking at her.  At first she played with Linnea's fingers, then her toes, patted the baby, and then just looked at her.  I like how Linnea has Nora's chin and I like how Nora just has her hands clasped; content to study the Baby.  She (Nora) will be an awesome Big Sister some day I hope!  This is how I try to appeal to parents and sell my product with the "Not so Subtle" advertising!  Similar to LunenAd.  Ha!  I have no idea what that means, but I thought it was funny!  :) I took another "blanket over the head" picture of Nora this morning.  She was doing this just for Lauralea's benefit!  She's facing the kitchen and Lauralea kept saying, "Where'd Nor Nor go?"  And of course that'...

Nora ate bites of whole wheat bagel and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate hamburger/sausage pizza on whole wheat crust with tomato sauce, olives, pineapple and three servings of pineapple on the side.  Nora has been working hard and has now been successful once yesterday and once today getting her bib on by herself.  And she's super proud!  After some more successes we'll start working on her getting it on with the bib pocket facing outward!  :) Speaking of successes, you should have seen her showing-off for Lauralea this morning!  She was doing some major jumping on the mattress, then shooting her legs straight out, and landing perfectly on her bottom!  So stinking cute and Lauralea and I were very impressed!  (We call them "butt bombs!"  Named thus by one of Reid's older brothers!) The first three pictures are of Nora and Atley having lots of fun playing together.  The way these two play totally fascinates...

Nora ate whole wheat toast and three servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate bite of roast beef, ate whole grain tortillas, no carrots or potatoes, and ate a large serving of fruit salad. These first two pictures are similar to what I posted yesterday, but Kenzie and Riley elaborated on their building and also on their "production!"  Ha!  They were doing a "play" for the little people (1st picture) and then a puppet show - using the stuffed animals for their puppets (2nd picture).  It was cute how they had the yellow bench for the audience (Hudson and Atley) and then Nora had front row viewing up close and personal!  It was actually very cute and the kids were laughing and shrieking.  (I think the laughing and rowdiness started when the performers started throwing their puppets into the audience!)  Ha! This picture is also taken yesterday afternoon.  The Baby was laying on the couch beside me and Nora joined us.  Whenever...
