Nora Hansen's Journal

Nora ate cream of wheat cereal and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of Whole 30 Chili with meat, peppers, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and tomato sauce.  She ate whole wheat dinner roll, and tropical fruit.   This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon.  Svea and Nora looked so cute in their pajamas holding hands and going back and forth across the room.  And they both were wearing their pajamas yesterday as well.  Svea said, "Gary, My having a fun day!"  I love how she says that!  And she probably says that 3 or 4 times a week.   Next picture:  Alexa was playing music from the "Polar Express" and these two were running back and forth across the room this morning.  If you look closely at Nora you'll seeing she's looking to her right; yup, that's where one of the mirrors is located!!  Haha.  Every time she passed it.  The girl loves her mirrors!!   More pictures:  Nora with...

Nora ate whole wheat waffle and three servings of fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground turkey, no whole wheat tortillas, no sweet potatoes, and ate cherries.  Yesterday during Snack time the digital pictures were scrolling by and there was a picture of my feet (with shoes) standing at a highchair. Nora said, "Gary! There's your old shoes!"  She would notice that!  :) This isn't about Nora, but I'm giving you the opportunity to read it anyhow!!  Haha.   Warning # 1 : If a farting story is too crude then skip this paragraph!   Warning # 2!   You'll miss a good story if you skip this!!  Yesterday afternoon Atley did a very loud and boisterous toot!  Svea said, "Awww...Ewww...that was Gary!"  Avi said, "No, that was Atley!" Nora ate French toast and two servings of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate chicken, ate brown rice, broccoli, and two servings of pineapple.    As you all know I love the conversations the three big girls have at meal time.  And Svea frequently chimes in with a tidbit now and then.  Again, I was just trying to keep up with the quotes and not who was speaking!!  They were finishing this sentence: "We can't go to the North Pole because:..." "We can't see the presents!" "Because Santa is busy." "Because it's gonna be too chilly." "Because it's too far away." "Because the reminder might bite you." "Because by the time you get to the North Pole Christmas will be over." Nora ate two servings of whole wheat toast and ate two servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch she ate half of pork roast, no whole wheat English muffin, ate beets, and two servings of applesauce.  Hey I just want to mention something that I'm working on with the 3 oldest girls.  During Story Time, music time, sign language, etc., I'm having them sit until it's over.  Sometimes it's short and sometimes longer.  I know they'll be required to sit for periods of time in Kindergarten, but it totally depends on the teacher and how it's set up.   First picture:  Nora was complaining about Atley not playing with her the way Nora was wanting her to play.  I listened and then told Nora she needed to tell Atley.  Then I was holding Nora's hands away from her mouth so I could take a picture.  Little Cutie.  Following picture: They got out lots of Art supplies and these four were getting after some art! Nora ate corn chex cereal and two servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, toasted whole wheat sandwich thin, tomatoes, avocado, and two servings of mandarin oranges.  This was toy exchange weekend and in the first picture Nora is wearing the "lioness" suit.  I told her that and she said, "No I'm not! I'm a cat."  Haha.  She was staring hard (basically trying to ignore me and my camera - ha) and said she was "a cat statue."  Haha.  In the second picture Nora is helping Callahan get on the leopard jacket.  As soon as he got it on he said, "Zip it, zip it."  Except the zipper doesn't work anymore! Sorry Cal!  That jacket has seen many many years of Little Treasures Child Care.  :)   Nora was also making a surprise for Atley's Birthday and she instructed Atley to close her eyes before coming to the couch to see the big surprise!  Atley was totally cooperating with Nora's instructions.  Good job ...

Nora ate oatmeal and ate dried cranberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate tilapia, whole wheat elbow noodles, ate green beans, and two servings of applesauce. The three big girls were having a discussion about what a "minute means."  And a little more about what a "second means."  We all use the words "minute or second" in phrases a lot!!  Especially; "Wait a minute!!" "Wait a second!!"  They were talking fast and furious (sometimes at the same time) and I didn't have time to write down the person speaking, but here are a few of the quotes!! "Well my Mom doesn't count to one for a minute!" "Well my Mom says one minute is one second." "You need to count to one." "Well my Mom showed me what a minute means, but I don't know what it means." "A minute means one." "No! That is not what a minute means." "A second means you have to count to one." "No, that...

Nora ate two servings of blueberry bagel and three servings of peaches for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of hamburger & sausage pizza with meats, peppers, pineapple, olives, mushrooms, and tomato sauce.  She had ate whole wheat pizza crust we serve on the side, and ate two servings of pineapple on the side too.   Nora showed her true "Mamma Bear" colors this morning defending brother Miles.  I looked around the corner and Nora had her finger right in Cal's face and was giving him the business!!  (Miles was NOT crying.)  What are you doing Nora? She said, "I think Cal hit him!"  Well you did not see it happen, I did NOT see it happen, so we'll just leave it at that.  This is not the first time she's just made an assumption and she comes out with barrels blazing!!  Hahaha.   So today was "Science with Lauralea" and the theme was "Fire."  Today was observation only; nothing to touch and nothing to eat!!  And (...

Nora ate whole wheat English muffin and ate dried plums for breakfast.  I toast and butter the English muffins and their hands get a bit messy from the butter.  Nora was done first and walked by Avilene.  Avi reached out for Nora and Nora immediately screamed at Avi for trying to touch her with messy hands.  Haha.  Nora is never afraid to stick up for herself; which is good.  As she grows and matures she'll learn how to do so with less smoke coming from her ears.  Haha.  (Mom will be an excellent helper and resource for you in that area Nora.)  For lunch she ate chicken, bite of brown rice, ate stir fry vegetables, and two servings of mandarin oranges.   This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  Svea and Nora pretending to nap.  Atley NEVER does the napping, but she's always the self-designated person to fetch blankets, pillows, dress-up clothes, stuffed animals and anything soft she can find.  Following picture; ...

Nora ate cheerios and banana for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, two servings of whole wheat pita bread ("Can I have it toasted and buttered?" - for second serving - following Atley's lead - ha), ate avocado, ate olives, and two servings of fruit cocktail.  Speaking of eating; this first picture is left over from Friday afternoon Snack time.  Nora was helping feed Cal some cottage cheese while Avilene fed Miles his cottage cheese.  They are great helpers and they love to help. Next picture:  These three girls (Avi goes to Gymnastics Camp on Mondays) were working on art; drawing, coloring and doing stickers this mooning.  Svea had a marker that Nora wanted (even though there is a container there with over 40 markers - ha) and Nora told her to "Color fast!"  So Svea did just what Nora asked and very soon passed the marker on to Nora.  Nora said, "Why did you color so fast!?!"  Svea didn't answer.  Nora said, "We  don't ...

Nora ate two servings of brown rice and two servings of raisins for breakfast.  For lunch she ate two servings of salmon, ate whole wheat dinner roll, riced cauliflower, and three servings of mangoes.  Meal conversation: Atley said, "My Mom told me Lexi's favorite day is Valentine's Day.  Because Lexi loves loves."  :) I took this first picture shortly after Nora and Miles arrived this morning.  I was on the couch and Nora was talking to me.  However, that mirror has a strong attraction and she kept looking at the cute girl in the mirror.  She knew I was chuckling about it; I'm making that judgment by her expression!!  Haha. Nora had no whole wheat English muffin and ate mandarin oranges for breakfast.  For lunch she ate ground beef, two servings of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate two servings of peas, and three servings of applesauce.  (Using applesauce to cover peas and then her noodles.) Yesterday at Snack time Atley randomly said; "Some people are spirit."  Avilene said, "Yes like God, Jesus, and Mary."  Nora said, "I already know that."  LOL!!   Yes of course you do Nora.  Then they were talking about penguins and Nora said they were at the "North Pole."  Atley said, "No, they're at the bottom of the earth."  (Which is basically true, but not directly at the South Pole.)  Avi said, "Is it a different Santa at the South Pole!"  Great question Avi!!   I'm posting this First picture for Ryan's benefit.  He gets to hear all my comments about Sanders County Montana where I grew up.  Nora said, "Hey Gary, look at my picture."  ...

Nora ate French toast and ate two servings of strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch she ate a large serving of hearty paleo stew with meat, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes.  She ate two servings of saltines and three servings of tropical fruit.  Every day, before every meal, Nora asks what we're having.  So I gotta have fun with that sometimes!!!  Today; "What's for breakfast Gary?!?"  "Moose liver."  Nora's eyes got huge and she said, "That's WAY TOO GROSS!!"  Ok sorry.  Ha!
